Our relocation to the River Corner office building in Prague's Smíchov district was the beginning of several project stories, from our offices to the winning reception to the Vasmedic private clinic. Our team also paid careful attention to the terraces in the courtyard and on the roof. The result is places where you can find both relaxation and thoughtful design solutions.

A look inside

In the case of the courtyard, the main objective was to transform the existing unmaintained garden with parking into a functional space with terraces that will harmoniously fit in with the reconstructed entrance reception area with lobby. The connection of these two concepts was key, as the courtyard is directly connected to the reception area via a glass façade.

The architectural design of the courtyard included the segmentation of the slightly sloping terrain into individual terrace areas, where we used a combination of concrete and wood. This element, identical to the river-inspired elements in the reception area in the form of various embankments, allowed us to create different nooks and crannies with a higher degree of privacy, achieving not only an aesthetic but also a practical result.

For work and nature

The functionality of the space was ensured by the installation of shading tarps and different types of seating, which guarantees comfort for afternoon relaxation and for work meetings in the fresh air. These features have made the terrace a place where people can meet, relax or work in a pleasant environment.

We placed great emphasis on preserving viable greenery, especially existing trees. This approach allowed us not only to respect the original character of the site, but also to enrich the new space with natural greenery that contributes to the overall atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

Looking to the future

In the case of the roof terrace, it was originally a roof covered with pea gravel without direct access from the lift lobby. The first step was to get the necessary approvals from the authorities to convert the roof into a living area. This involved completely changing the composition of the roof structure and creating a new entrance in the load-bearing masonry.

Another important aspect was the statics, which we had to take into careful consideration for the installation of screening and the placement of more mature greenery, as well as providing a water supply for watering.

The terrace was designed and divided into several zones to make the best use of the available space. The relaxation zone provides several comfortable seating options for relaxation. The Meeting Zone features a meeting table for business meetings, while the Dining Zone with smaller tables and chairs offers an ideal place for lunches and informal gatherings.

For culture building

The social area is the ideal place for more people to meet in a relaxed atmosphere. The terrace has a magnificent view of Vyšehrad, the courtyard and Dívčí hrady, which adds to its charm and attractiveness.
